"Age pride is for everyone who refuses to regret waking up a day older, who acknowledges long life as the privilege it is and who is prepared to challenge the power structures that underlie all discrimination." Ashton Applewhite
This session will be a conversation about how a positive attitude about aging can translate into a longer, healthier life. Ageist beliefs can directly impact personal health, the ability to age well, and even the economy. In this workshop we will discuss ageism and anti-age bias, examine how our ways of speaking and portrayals of aging in popular culture express our beliefs about getting older, and work on reframing our own attitudes about aging. Let‘s all together envision a world where being older is a respected advantage. Suggested follow up readings and actions will be discussed. Jude Rabig, a gerontologist and NNN Board Member will be leading this discussion. Join us for this free event and learn what’s so great about aging!!
Any NNN members requesting transportation to this event, please do so by 10/2/2024.

"Blink" is a 2024 National Geographic documentary film. When three of their four children are diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa, a rare and incurable disease that leads to severe visual impairment, the Pelletier family’s world changes forever. In the face of this life-altering news, Edith Lemay, Sébastien Pelletier and their children set out on a trip around the world to experience all its beauty while they still can. As they fill their memories with breathtaking destinations and once-in-a-lifetime encounters, the family’s love, resilience and unshakeable sense of wonder ensure that their uncertain future does not define their present. We will meet at the 3rd floor, by the concession stand at 12:55 PM, for the 1:10 show. If any NNN member would like to request a ride, or wishes to car pool, please request to do so by 10/14/2024 either by clicking the Request Transportation button above or calling us at 518-631-2402.
